Seeing as this is a forum for young people, I'm guessing that a lot of people here would live with their parents. How do your parents and siblings get along with your pet bird? Do they love birds themselves, or just barely tolerate it? I'm afraid that my parents, while they like birds, are more just tolerating it rather than loving it. No more indoor birds for me until I move out. Which will be in the next few years. However, my lorikeet adores my family, especially my youngest brother. I do make sure that he gets to interact with them a fair bit.

My parents are fine with my bird. He lives inside of my house and surprisingly doesn't make soo much noise. I'm the only one who really handles him though because he has bitten before, when he was younger.

my mother used to be terrified by birds because she was attacked by a large "red bird" which im guessing is either a scarlet or greenwing macaw...but she loves my green cheek...and makes fun of my sun cuz shes scared of everything...but now she is wanting a bird of her own. she wants to get an african grey but is going to wait till she retires in a few years so she will have the time to spend with it...i just wish i could have more birds...id love to get a pair of diamond doves and name them ebony and ivory from that one song...cant remember title or artiist...and then a male hahns macaw and name him bug. lol..but we have our own little petting zoo as it is and mom says no more animals...i mean..we only have 5 cats, 2 geckos, and 2 conures...whats the harm of a few more birds? lol

lorries are cool little birds...a bit messy...and i always refer to their waste as "bird super glue". lol. at my internship, we had a black lorry that was like a living stress ball. if you didnt pay attention, he would get so hyper he'd fall off your hand. haha he was an awesome bird...he liked to hang upside down from one hand, and follow the other with his head...lol...and then when you put him on the counter, he would hop up and down like a caigue...then grab a toy and sumersault with it. he had 2 names, never-more and eight ball. lol

Ok as the parent I'll answer this one. I'm worse then Jordan (loriboy). The other 2 kids in the family have their own birds so not much fuss there and hubby shares a bird with the middle son. From the point of view of me as a parent as long as the boys take some responsibility of their birds I'm fine. They also need to take into account space in the house and aviaries if they want something else and whether it will upset existing birds (well my little precious, Arthur the African grey) too much. I do put limits in place but being a bird person myself the kids get exposed to a fair number of different species through my bird friends too.
