I'm just curious as to what everyone's setups are like for their feathered friends, as far as cages, playstands, perches, etc. Desmond (and soon Sprout!) have a fairly large cage: It actually used to be the home of an African Grey, but personally I think its too small for a grey. Just the right size for the boys though! I'm also working with my stepdad to build a wooden playstand for them that I can put by my computer (since that's where I am most of the time). An avian rescue I'm acquainted with (Iowa Parrot Rescue) has some really neat setups for their birds, including a big outdoor flight aviary. You can see it here: mikeoso.homestead.com/aviary.html I'd love to have a setup similar to that one day when I've got a house.

hey i know the outdoor avairy your talking about at iowa. i was looking at their page the other day, and i saw that 12 ft beauty. lol
but i have 2 cages for each. trying to get the money to get some bigger cages with playtops(the big 300$ ones), but my job has really cut hours, and im lucky to bring home a 200$ paycheck. ugh.
but i built my own playstand out of pvc pipe and some heavy plywood for the bottom. mom and i got a drill bit thats twice the size of our fingers, and drilled holes for the dowel rods. and i decorated with toys, and covered up the pipe with the fake wood stick on stuff.
then i got really creative with my small stand on the computer desk. i took the extra perch from the girls travel cage, and attached it to 2 toliet paper rolls, and then taped the rolls to a piece of cardboard. i put clear tape on the cardboard for easy clean up. the girls chew the rolls for entertainment, and it serves as a good perch. kinda tacky, but it saves money! lol. i used to have a parakeet sized playstand, but the perches are to small for bird feet. who knows, after building HUGE reptile cages, i might build them a new smaller stand this summer for fun.
