Hello guys,
so as you know my Alexandrine is a rescue and surely she isn't tame, I need tips on how I can help her out on a few things: 1. how to get her to take treats from me, and I think that is the biggest issue cause then she'd get that I'm a good human! 2. when she's out of the cage she keeps running around
I'm obviously desperate!

Just a few questions: How close to being tame is Bella? How close will she let you get to her? When she is out of her cage, is she running around because she is scared or just curious and full of energy?
I guess with my aviary birds, I was able to get them to eat out of my hand by being still and patient. Use a type of food that you know she really loves. Offer it to her, but if she looks scared or aggressive, don't advance more until she is use to your hand being there. I guess it takes a lot of patience...

I have a thing on feather taming on another sight.. I'll have to get that for you. Some times it's best not to chase them. Just sit and talk to her...

I'm interested in the feather taming thing too.
Here, I just posted a thread on some games you can play with shy parrots to help them grow use to you: http://teensmiley.proboards52.com/index.....read=1205585576

She lets me pet her but only if I have her on my lap and holding her, a few minutes later I'd let go of her and she'd stay there but once she realizes that I'm not holding her she runs away. I can be around 2 feet away without scaring her, and she runs away cause she fears me.

while you have her on your lap, try holding a treat in the other hand, and keep giving her treats while shes on your lap that way she will work out that you want to be her friend. As nat said dont chase that way she will keep running. Paulie used to think this was a game so I stopped chasing. Also they loved being talked to this is one way you can teach them how to talk as well.

I know one for number 1. Here are the answers: 1.Find a heathy treat. 2.Make sure it is not to small or big. 3.Put it in the palm of your hand and slowly bring it towards her. 4.Say the name of the food about 2-3 times calmly. And thats all you have to do!(it worked on my bird) And tell me if it works.
